How do I Apply to Colleges? 


Before you get started think of what you want to study. Not all schools offer the major you might be interested in. Take a look below to see what majors schools typically offer. 

  • 2 - Year, Technical, or Vocational College
    • These schools typically offer certificates, credentials, or Associate's degrees. There are many areas of study offered. Some examples are esthetician licenses, welding, paralegal studies, nursing, and much more! Make sure to explore your interested major.
      • Schools in Colorado: Front Range Community College, Emily Griffith Technical School, Community College of Denver, Lincoln Tech, and many more! 
  • Public 4 - Year College or University 
    • A  4 - year college/university typically offers Bachelor's Degrees, Master's Degrees, and even Doctorate Degrees. Some examples are Biology, Political Science, Psychology, Chemistry, Engineering, Education, etc. 
      • Public colleges receive their funding from the government 
      • Public 4-Year Schools in Colorado: Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado Denver, Colorado State University, University of Northern Colorado, and many more! 
  • Private College or University 
    • A private college or university is also typically a 4-year school. They also offer Bachelor's Degrees, Master's Degrees, and even Doctorate Degrees. Some examples are Biology, Political Science, Psychology, Chemistry, Engineering, Education, etc. 
      • Private colleges receive their funds from the tuition they charge and private donations. 
      • Private colleges tend to have a higher sticker price. 
      • Private Universities in Colorado: University of Denver, Colorado College, and others.
