“As we know, this outbreak was something that none of us were ready for. It took us all by surprise and it took a rapid turn in our lives. Right now, I am home with my parents and siblings. We have been just trying to enjoy each other’s company and respect each other’s’ spaces. As for me, the Virus affected some events. This Spring Break, I was going to be flying out to Catalina Island to do a service trip. This trip was all about helping the environment, trail restoration and composting. It got cancelled because of how fast the virus was spreading. Many other events that I was supposed to be doing at CSU got cancelled as well. Sure it was a bummer but it was the right thing to do to keep us safe and take precautions. In addition to all this, I had an apartment up in Fort Collins that I decided to terminate a lease for in order to move back in with my parents, just so I can be with my family.
School went online, all virtual learning. It has both its pros and cons, but it has been a bit difficult to get used to it. I really enjoyed going to my classes and being able to be on campus, but unfortunately this had to happen. It is all up to us, the students, to stay on top of things and hold ourselves accountable. The only thing that I am worried about is my Calculus class, this is my second semester taking it. I am doing repeat and delete. What worries me, is that at CSU, I had the availability to go to the CALC and Tutoring Center to get help, now it’s a bit complex to get help. Although, I have been reading the textbook and keeping up with the lectures, so I am hoping that I can earn a good grade in this class. I do not want to jeopardize my GPA that could affect financial aid.
My family and I are doing well. We are staying at home and taking the necessary precautions to stay healthy. I would just say that my dad is not working at the moment, which is a bit hard. Again, this was something that caught us all by surprise and it has been a bit hard to adapt to these changes. I have been trying to stay healthy and keep up with a good mental health. I have been doing home workouts, been going to the park early in the mornings to run and avoid people and been spending time with my family.”
