For the 2017-18 school year the Foundation will not be able be funding Education Innovation grants. Instead the Foundation will be supporting other critical District initiatives.
The Westminster Public Schools Foundation provides Education Innovation Funds to advance the educational experiences of Westminster Public Schools school students. The Foundation grant directly responds to specific classroom needs required to enable students to learn in unique and creative ways. Although funding is granted for many different programs, the most important criteria when selecting grant recipients is the impact it will have on student achievement.
Over at the Colorado STEM academy in Ms. Schreck’s classroom students used the block printing materials to learn about Japanese Cultural Arts in conjunction with the primary classroom learning about oceans and coastal communities. The materials will also be used again next year in conjunction with the middle school social studies unit teaching about ancient China. This project will allow students the ability to experience and create artwork from an unfamiliar culture and will also provide much needed small motor skills by learning precise carving techniques.

“I am so thankful for your donation to my classroom project. It is so important for students to be able to learn about cultures around the world. Through this project I will be able to provide an experiential learning experience for my students. This art project will complement the project based learning in grade levels 3-8. Additionally, I will use the art supplies with my special education students as a sensory break from academics. Thank you so much for your generosity and commitment to support education through the arts.”
